Booktube-A-Thon 2015 Wrap Up

7 days, 7 books. A task I thought was impossible when I found the booktube community a year ago. I've come a long way since then, I pumped my reading up quite a lot. I successfully participated in a bunch of readathons and when the booktube-a-thon came around I was pleased to find that I had books on my TBR to fit the challenges. Now let's get on with the Wrap-Up, shall we?

The first book I finished was High Fidelity by Nick Hornby. This book is about thirty-something Rob, freshly single, owner of a barely frequented Record store. Stuck in the blues after his last break-up he starts to look up all his old girlfriends who made it to his 'desert island, all time, top five memorable split-ups"-list. And through how much he actually is responsible for the bad stuff that happened in his life.
This was my second time reading this book and I have watched the movie so many times that I lost count. And I still love it. I really don't know what it is about this story that I love so much but there were so many qoutes where I went like 'so much yes' when I read it.
With this book I completed the challenge "Read a book with blue on the cover".

The second book I finished was Red Dragon by Thomas Harris. This book is about the serial killer Francis Dolarhyde, called The Toothfairy. Ex-FBI agent Will Graham is hired to investigate and for more insight has to face Hannibal Lecter, the man who almost killed him.
I just recently watched the movie and so it was kinda hard to get through it at times because I felt like I just read it because they barely changed anything in the movie adaption. But I liked it anyways. I got more insight into Francis Dolarhyde's backstory which is always nice to have. And with the story coming up now on Hannibal as well I feel like an expert on all things Red Dragon now. Just kidding.
With this book I completed the challenge "Read someone else's favorite book" since it is my sister's favorite book.

The third book I finished was Die Dreigroschenoper by Berthold Brecht. This book is about the criminal Maceath who marries Polly. Polly's father is displease with this and tries to have Maceath arrested and hanged which proves quite difficult since the Chief of Police is a good friend of Maceath.
I really don't know what I could say about this play. I'm not big on reading plays but it wasn't as difficult to read as other plays were for me. Plus I didn't really understand the ending.
With this book I completed the challenges "Read a book whose author's last name starts with the same letter as your last name" and "Read a book without letting go of it".

Next I finished Freiheit in Krähwinkel by Johann Nestroy. The story is about a town in Germany called Krähwinkel. The people in this town are planning a revolution because they want freedom. The mayor of the town does everything to let this not happen. the the townspeople get help from an austrian journalist called Ultra.
Again not big on plays. But this was pretty funny. Especially Ultra. I read this together with my sister so it was a lot easier to read.

Next I finished The light between Oceans by M.L.Stedman. This book is about a Tom Sherbourne, a lighthouse keeper, and his wife Isabel in the 1920s. They live on a little Island outside of Australia all on their own. Only a few days after Isabel's 3rd miscarriage they find a baby which was washed up in a little boat. The baby's father was dead next to it. Although Tom insists on reporting it, Isabel begs him to keep the baby.
I really loved this book. The writing style was amazing. I did have my problems with the book though, especially with the decisions the character made and how Isabel acted sometimes but I really enjoyed it and it left me a sobbing mess in the end. And I really can't wait for the movie to come out.
With this book I completed the challenge "Read a book you really want to read"

Next I finished The little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupèry. The narrator of this story meets the little prince, a creature from another planet, after a plane crash in the desert. The little prince tells the narrator of the people he met on other planets before he came to earth.
I really quite liked the story although it didn't make sense at times but it doesn't have to make sense. It's still an endearing story and I'm sure it teaches a lot of great lessons to kids eventhough it is really short. I also really enjoyed the illustrations.

And last but definetly not least, in fact I really not to read this book too fast so I always had something to come back to when I felt like I didn't want to read anymore, I finished Me before you by Jojo Moyes. This book is about 26-year-old Louisa who, eventhough she doesn't have any experience in that field, get's hired as a carer for tetraplegic Will Traynor. At first they don't get along all that well but that changes soon. Through Will Louisa finally finds the courage to make something out of her life.
This book was so amazing. I seriously have no words. The main characters were so likeable and I got so invested in the story right away. And again this book left me and emotional mess. It broke me. I couldn't do anything for like 20 minutes after finishing this book. Again I'm really looking forward to the movie.
This book fulfilled the challenge "Read the book you last acquired"

That's it. I somehow managed to make this a book to movie adaptation week completely unwillingly. I really had so much fun during this read-a-thon. And I can't wait for next year.
